Dr Ioannis Psaras presented the GreenICN work on “Name-Based Replication Priorities in Disaster Cases” at the Department of Informatics of the University of Sussex on the 26th of February 2014. Members of the group where our work was presented is active in the area of DTN and ad hoc communications and are also keen on the ICN paradigm. The audience (of around 15 people) liked the idea of name-based replication and the discussion focused around the adoption of our proposed scheme in some of their projects.

University of Goettingen and KDDI Meeting
Researchers from the university of Goettingen and KDDI R&D Labs met from the 5th of February till the 7th of February in order to advance the GreenICN projects work on disrupted networks and delay tolerant networks.
Atsushi Tagami and Kohei Sugiyama also presented their work to the staff and students of the Computer science institute at the University of Goettingen.
EU partners meeting in Rome, 14-16 January 2014
The EU partners held a working meeting in Rome from the 14th of January till the 16th of January, 2014. The meeting was held at the “Tor Vergata University” and was organized by Prof. Nicola Blefari Melazzi and Prof. Andrea Detti.
The meeting was attended by all the partners working on the networking aspect of GreenICN and the main focus of the meeting was the development of the “Internames” architecture. Moreover, we discussed the next steps in preparation for submitting the deliverables as well as the first official review meeting in May.
K. K. Ramakrishnan represented GreenICN at the COMSNET panel discussions.
The COMSNET (http://www.comsnets.org/archive/2014) was held in Bangalore, India from the 7th of January till the 10th of January, 2014. K.K. Ramakrishnan was part of the panel titled “Telling gold from pyrite: Promising research direction or hype ?” and represented GreenICN (http://www.comsnets.org/archive/2014/panel_discussions.html). The goal of the panel was to understand how to identify if an emerging technology is a hype or a promising research direction. The case studies considered were AI, P2P, CCN, Cloud, BigData and SDN.

Prof. Asami, presented it as a special lecture from 10:30 to 11:30 on Friday, November 22, 2013 just after the talk by the opening speech by Mr. Hideo Fudeda, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The audience size was about 250 participants in the hall and about 30+ participants watching via TV screens.
GreenICN meets in Tokyo, 11-13 November 2013.
The GreenICN consortium met in Tokyo from the 11th to the 13th of November 2013 and made advances in the design of the architecture and naming. The meeting was held in the University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus and was arranged by Prof. Asami and the local organization was handled by Tagami-san, KDDI.
Parallel sessions were held to discuss application specific issues (Disaster and Video). The meeting also had some preliminary demos involving Panasonic, CEDEO, CNIT and Uni-Goettingen.

The next EU-Japan meeting is scheduled for May along with the First review meeting. In the mean time, the Japanese and EU partners will have separate meetings, most likely in January.
Presentation at ICNRG WG at IETF 88, Vancouver, Canada
IETF 88 is currently being held in Vancouver, Canada (3-8 November). The ICNRG working group met on the 3rd and 6th of November. Jan seedorf represented the GreenICN members at the ICNRG WG and presented the updated version of the Disaster Draft and the work done by the CNIT team related to Video Delivery.
Second EU-JP Meeting, 11th-13th November 2013, University of Tokyo, Japan
The Second EU-Japan meeting for all the consortium members is scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan from the 11th of November 2013 to the 13th of November 2013. The main aim of the meeting is to delve deeper into the technical and research aspects of the GreenICN project.
